A Tribute to the Hair - The Days Leading Up to the Cut

Monday late-night
It has been a wild last 2 weeks.  After an amazing Monday Son-Day with friends at the GA Aquarium, Jack-Bo ended up coming down with a tummy bug that really hit him hard.  He spent most of that Monday night and into Tuesday on the bathroom floor.  Out of the 5 times he threw up, we made it to the toilet twice.  Pretty good for a 19.5 month old!

Then again a couple days later the pukeys came back.  Poor little bugger.  It is SO HARD to see your little one sick, and tummy bugs are awful b/c they can be totally fine and then just spew everywhere.  Both my nephews Ethan and Logan also ended up getting the same bug that week.  It was a potent visitor.

Thursday night - just pitiful!

Friday morning Jack was sleeping off some of the sickness while he snuggled with Della.    All of our animals love to cuddle up, and they just adore Jack, especially when he is asleep b/c it means he can't torment them!

Between the 1st and 2nd rounds of sickness, Jack had some fun at GRandi's!  Here is a super cute pic with his long hair at her house!  He loves her backyard!

Despite feeling icky, Jack was still able to have some sticker fun with Daddy!

On Friday Jack was feeling much better.  We were supposed to go camping, but the weather and sickness changed our plans for us.  By Saturday, Jack was pretty much back to normal, so we ventured out for a family trip to Costco.  Jack helped push the cart.

We had to restock our "fruities" supply, but Jack could not wait until we got home to get his fix,
so he opened the box while were were still there.

Other Saturday fun included Jack dressing up like a ghost,

...parking all of his trucks at the top of his slide and then sending them down one-by-one,

...and playing his kitty keyboard and singing songs.

Sunday morning Jack and Mommy got up very early and played with finger paints.  Jack was SUPER messy.  It was so much fun though.

Jack started out very serious.

Watching a little Oso too...

Discovering that finger paints can be whole hand paints

Later on that day we had some fun with friends.  Here is a collage of Jack and Braeden playing together!

The next day was Monday Son-Day again.  (It was also PaPa's birthday!)  We started out at Gymboree and then pit stopped at Chik-Fil-A for lunch with some Gym-pals.  Jack's appetite was really back now, and he ate 10 chicken nuggets!  Then we went home for a nap before heading to Open Gym in the afternoon! Gymboree twice in one day???  Now THAT was special!  Here is another collage, this one of our Gymboree visits with one profile pic from Chik-Fil-A mixed in.

The grand finale of Monday Son-Day was frozen yogurt with Ms. Ann and Braeden at Menchi's.  It was Mommy's first time, but Jack is apparently a regular there, visiting often with Aunt Christie and/or Grandma, so he was very familiar with the chalkboard.  With all that sugary goodness, Jack and Braeden went a little crazy beating on the table like a drum!  (By the way, these collages were created with Microsoft Research AutoCollage 2008 trial version, which I downloaded for free and have no idea when it will expire and they'll want me to pay!)

The rest of the week I worked, so not too many pics were taken.  Wednesday we watched Ethan and Logan perform "Dead or Alive" by Bon Jovi in the High Point talent show.  Ethan played guitar while Logan sang.  They did awesome!  They are super cool cousins!  Friday we celebrated PaPa's birthday and had an impromptu spend the night at GRandi's.  Then Saturday we rushed home so we could get ready for Jack's hair appointment.  The rest has already been written here... at least about the haircut anyway.

Saturday evening we took our short-haired boy to a cookout at the Summerville's.  It had been forever since we saw them last, so this was a super special occasion.  It was beautiful outside so we sat on their deck to eat and got to participate in the inaugural run of their new grill.  Thanks, Matt and Lauren, for the yummy burgers, chicken, sausage and onions!  Your new grill is fabulous!  Jack had a blast showing off his new hair in addition to some of his amazing skills like somersaults, singing and jumping.  He especially loved playing with their dog, Pescha.  Okay, last collage of this post...

Unfortunately Mommy has to work tomorrow, so Monday Son-Day has been cancelled since I have to make up for that awful week when I had the flu.  It is going to be a long week and I will miss my little Jack-Bo so much!!!

Stay tuned for my next post about our Stone Mountain Adventure!  In the mean time, have a great week!

P.S. Happy 20 month birthday to my Jack-Bo born August 4th, 2009!

  1. He is so adorable! He looks a lot like you, but for some reason especially in those finger painting pictures! :) We have that same keyboard except ours is purple. The cat songs are sooooo annoying. Thankfully our kids think so too, so they never play the cat songs.

Our kids also LOVE those fruit snacks. I'm pretty sure they'd eat nothing but that if I let them.

Stomach illnesses are the worst. You don't know when it's coming and the little ones don't know what's going on. :(
