A Sunny Weekend & Monday Son-Day!

There is something about little ones and laundry baskets.  Or anything they can fit in actually.  Jack has recently discovered the inside of the dryer.  He regularly replaces our pots and pans with himself in the kitchen cabinets, and he loves to get inside any laundry basket!  This weekend, at cousin Brookie's birthday dinner, Jack and cousin Kady both squeezed into a doll-size pack 'n play!

If only getting him to sleep in his own crib had been that easy.

Other excitement from Saturday includes a pineapple pop out of the fruit bouquet from Aunt Lori...

Jack LOVES fruit!
...and extreme stair climbing at Aunt Suzi's (which terrifies Mommy while giving her quite a work out)!

Almost to the top!
On Sunday we had breakfast with Grandma and Grandpa and the Hunt family, and afterwards Jack made friends with a tree in the parking lot.

Little Tree Hugger!

Braeden in his JR hat!

Today was an especially exciting day!  We got to be the first "test audience" for the Georgia Aquarium's Dolphin Tales show which opens officially to the public on April 2nd.  Jack's best bud Braeden's grandparents volunteer there, and they invited us to go for free!  We started with lunch at Johnny Rockets and then we played at the Centennial Olympic Park playground.

Jack-Bo playin' hard!

The boys had a slide race!
Ready, set go!

Braeden wins!
Then we lined up for entrance into the Aquarium, but we had to wait a bit, so the boys' attention shifted to more playtime on this gorgeous day.

Walking around the ledge
Once in, we were ushered to a sort of holding room where one wall was a  huge dolphin pool where the boys could go right up to the glass and see the dolphins swimming and jumping and playing in the water.  The dolphins would even swim up to the glass and interact with the crowd.  We had to wait in there for awhile, but that was all part of the testing.  Then they opened the doors to the theater and we got to take our seats, but we had to wait a bit longer for the show to begin.  It was somewhat of a struggle for the boys, who were already exhausted and skipping nap time, but once the show started they were mesmerized.  They did not allow photography, or else I would certainly have some pics to share!

My big boy!
So "Monday Son-day" was well spent, and what perfect weather we had to go with it.  As I was writing this, Jack was taking a late snooze, but now he is up and we are going to eat some dinner!  Yum, Mellow Mushroom pizza!  And that's a wrap!

Introducing...New and Improved: The McQ Zoo

Since joining the blogging world I have become increasingly aware of the many different blog styles out there, several of which I really like.  From them, I have gotten ideas for my own blog(s).  Some of the ideas are content related, and others are design related, the latter being my inspiration for my newest blog: The McQ Zoo.
If you know my family, you probably already know we have a Shutterfly Share site, also called The McQ Zoo, which is great for posting oodles of pictures, but it is often overwhelming to update and doesn't really have an aesthetically pleasing display for text (so I can keep you informed of all The McQ Zoo adventures!).  I have decided to phase out our Shutterfly Share site with the hope that this blog will actually be easier to maintain.  The other site will remain in tact, but it just won't be as comprehensive as it once was.  I will have links to and from both sites for ease of viewing, but in general, I expect this new blog to be the real hub of information, and thus the more frequented of the two.
My inspiration for this site comes from the photo journal style of blogging.  I am a follower of one blog in particular where the blogger doesn't always have much to say, but can still post a touching piece just by including a few lovely pictures from her day.  I take so many pictures that never get seen b/c they get lost in the ginormous shuffle!  It is often impossible to find them once downloaded from the camera onto the computer, and sometimes there are hundreds to go through at a time.
Well folks, I'm going to try some photo journaling with this new blog.  This one will be G rated, safe for all audiences; I am sure there will be some warm and fuzzy and mushy posts from time to time as I gush about how much I love my family, but for the most part the deep thinking will be left to The Zookeeper - Uncaged!
I realize as I am writing this that it is after 2AM and I have been working on this site for about 4 hours now.  I'm not the best techie, but I know how I like things to look, and I am hoping to make a few more changes before I completely launch this blog (by publishing to Facebook, anyway).  So for now I need to call it a night, and with that I will leave you with one picture of sweet little Jack-Bo this morning (well yesterday actually) sleeping soundly with his long leggies stretched out and precious feet crossed.  I just can't believe how big he is!
Okay, good night!

Okay, it is morning now, well a decent morning hour at least.  Daddy and Jack-Bo are playing while Mommy "sleeps in," but that is hard to do with the thin walls and all the noise, so I am taking advantage of this time to wrap up the design of this new blog, and by George!  I think I got it done!  I hope you all enjoy this new and improved version of The McQ Zoo!
